We love guests who can roll with nature’s surprises, and who bring positivity to a group.
We don’t need you to have any scuba or freediving skills for this trip, but we do need you to be very confident, fast and strong in deep, choppy water!
Why Ubuntu?
"Ubuntu": term that translates roughly to "I am because we are.", emphasizing the interconnectedness of all people and the idea that our humanity is shared.
This collaboration represents such an exciting milestone for us.
We’ve always admired Dana's stunning underwater photography and the meaningful purpose that drives Ubuntu Bound Expeditions. Their commitment to conservation and building a vibrant, inclusive community aligns perfectly with our ethos at Immersia.
When Jasmine, our operations manager, first came aboard, she was full of praise for Ubuntu. She shared stories of their expeditions, frothing how much she dreamed of experiencing one herself. So, it was a complete dream come true when Dana and Ericka reached out to us with a proposal for collaboration.
We believe that the spirit of adventure and living life to the fullest that Ubuntu embodies meshes beautifully with the values of our Immersia community. This partnership represents shared passions for the ocean's preservation and the pure joy of exploration and experience. We are excited to start on this journey together, confident that our community will find resonance and a sense of belonging within theirs.
Join us as we begin this thrilling new chapter, exploring the wonders of the ocean and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

BELLA MASSEY
Founder of Immersia Freediving, Head Facilitator/Instructor
For me, ocean adventure travel embodies the joy I’ve found in this world: feeling alive, connected, and high on awe.
In 2017 moved from London to Sydney’s Bondi Beach. I was living a corporate, urban existence as a management consultant.. Moving to the beach opened up the perfect opportunity to take up a new water sport. I chose freediving (tbh it was advanced snorkelling).
To be clear, I was TERRIFIED of deep water, currents, waves and sharks. Freediving didn’t come naturally. However, as I grew more confident I found a deep sense of physical freedom. Freediving felt like dancing without gravity. Silently observing the underwater world as a visitor felt so calming. I made some of my closest friends (and my husband) in Sydney’s freediving community.
I felt I could help regular land dwelling people discover the ocean and transform their physical, mental and social health. So, in 2020, I took the biggest leap of faith of my life and walked away from my career to start Immersia Freediving.
4 years on, we have grown faster than I ever imagined. We’ve been lucky enough to teach over 1000 people to freedive and we have now hosted snorkelling, swimming and freediving expeditions in some of the world’s most beautiful places.
Co-Founder of Ubuntu Bound
Underwater Photographer, Conservationist, and Storyteller.
From a very young age, Dana has been surrounded by nature and art. Over time, she found the union of those two passions through photography.
She started exploring underwater photography through scuba diving and free diving, portraying wildlife and issues related to marine conservation.
Always driven to transmit deep messages and create an emotional connection with people through her images, she came to discover the potential and impact of storytelling, which led her to dig a little further when creating her images.
She is currently an ambassador for several local and International Brands such as Reef. and in the conservation field, she is an ambassador for Keiko Conservation (a marine conservation organization) and Co- Funder of Proyecto Sucre (a project that seeks sustainability in the communities of the Ecuadorian coasts) which has allowed her to use her photography to create environmental awareness and not only create an impact on people but also bring them closer to nature through the stories told through her images.
